Gideon's Bakehouse~ Our Family's Tasty Disney Tradition

Updated: Jul 2

Written evening of June 30 in anticipation of July's exclusive cookie release, my guess for the release is the Key Lime cookie. I will update tomorrow. 🙂

Update I was wrong. Two cookies this month,

Orange Pecan Chocolate Chip and Lemon Poppy Crumb. 🍊🍋

Gideon's Bakehouse opened a store at Disney Springs on January 16, 2021.

Their delicious cookies have people lined up at least a block down, outside the store. Or they often offer a virtual queue, but even that sometimes exceeds an hour. Your best bet is to get in the VQ as soon as you arrive to Disney Springs then do a little shopping until you are called back.

Our first time visiting was January of 2023, nearly two years after opening. Not like we didn't try. Once it was VQ only. It was our last day and didn't have time to wait for the queue. We had to make it back to our airport shuttle.

Our second miss was standby line, and it was so very hot. We could not stand in that line for any amount of time.

(Pic of the balloon for tax! Boo to no Gideon's, but she's beautiful so can't be mad!)

So what is the deal with Gideon's!?!?! Why are there lines and VQ's? It's just cookies, right!?!? Well (in my opinion) Gideon's cookies taste amazing and are a can't miss. I fully disclose I am a cupcake girl! When it comes to my dessert choices between cupcakes and cookies.... I will always go cupcakes. The thing about these cookies are, they travel home well. We can have an amazing Disney treat back home, when those post Disney blues set in. That's always been the plan.

Third times the charm, right? January 29, 2023 was our day. Kind of.....

J and I waited in the standby line, which didn't seem too long. It was also January so the heat was not an issue. We waited about 5 minutes in line. Once we got towards the front they gave us the current month's character card.

That's the other thing that is special about Gideon's Bakehouse. Every month they have an exclusive cookie and feature a character that's personality compliments the cookie of the month. This month it was the Butterscotch Cookie Butter cookie.

The first thing you notice when you walk in, is the unique atmosphere and decor. With a darkly lit and goth like trend you are immediately immersed. Let's not forget the smell, it just smells delicious!

Gideon's offers a variety of cookies they sell on an everyday basis, their cookie of the month, cake slices, and a coffee drink. They have a limit of 6 per person cookies to make sure everyone gets to enjoy the them. They also sell self branded merchandise like stickers, cups, and shirts.

I bought a sticker and made an ornament out of it for my Disney tree. 🎄

Okay you may be wondering why I said it was our day, kind of....

We may have made it in with not a long wait and no blazing sun, but it was not a completely successful mission. We had planned to get our six cookie limit and have a cookie party after we returned home. Unfortunately their system was not able to accept Disney gift cards which I had planned to pay with. We settled and picked 2 cookies which we paid for in cash. January's exclusive Butterscotch Cookie Butter and Postachio Toffee Chocolate Chip.

Both of us agree this is most likely a one & done.

Although it tasted good and was definitely a gourmet cookie, I need a little chocolate in my cookies.

J thought there would be better flavors.

(And was confirmed with our next batch.)

Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookie:

Again reviewed by J and P. This cookie is amazing. We will (and did) get this cookie again!!

Next visit was a complete success!! 🎉

Standby line with W about 15 minutes, at night so heat was not too bad. We got our character card while we waited in line. 🙂

Again the system was not able to take Disney gift cards. I was not letting that stop me! We were going to have our cookie party. I paid cash. Take note sometimes they cannot take Disney gift cards. Be prepared with another option to pay.

We ordered our six cookies including the May exclusive cookie of Peanut Butter Cold Brew. Which I was extremely excited to try.

We also got Banana Bread Chocolate Chip, Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Crunch, and Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip. (Again!!)

You get a collectors trading card when you order a box of six.

*Trading card subject to end at any time.

We started our (multi day cookie party, one a day) the night after W & I returned home.

We split one cookie between the 4 of us. With nearly a half pound of cookie it was plenty to sample and get a sweet treat. They come wrapped so each day would be a surprise in which cookie J would choose.

First up was the Banana Bead Chocolate Chip cookie on which we had heard such wonderful things about.

I was so excited about this cookie I forgot to take a picture of it.

Was the favorite for all. Just a hint of banana flavor so it was not overwhelming. I especially appreciated the hint of sea salt.

Cookies & Cream Cookie:

Overall consensus was one and done. Again not enough chocolate for me, the cream flavor was overpowering the chocolate.

J said it was like basic C&C icecream. L who is not big on eating sweets due to his workout routine didn't finish his piece. Not a bad cookie but other flavors make the sugar intake worth it to us.

It was good. I would definitely get again to have with coffee. Had plenty of chocolate. There were no complaints from my crew and everyone finished their piece.

Peanut Butter Cold Brew Cookie:

Reviewed by P, W, & L (J doesn't like Reese)

Liked by all who tried. Coffee taste was very light. I'm not a huge peanut butter fan but it had enough chocolate for me to like it. I would say it's my third for favorites.

Good Peanut butter cookie. Not too dry. Had no complaints from my crew. My only complaint was not enough chocolate! 😉

Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookie:

Sssshhhhhh we kept this one to ourselves. We knew it was going to be good and we had to savor our last night!

Again our favorite! Well tied with the Banana Bread. We will definitely get these two again, and again, and again!!

Bonus the bags, box, and collector cards make some pretty awesome living room decor. Our family loves the vibe of the place.

Only downside is, now we constantly want cookies and we have no trip in site. 🍪

Sadly Gideon's will not ship. 😪
