Disney Cruise Line - Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Updated: Jun 13

Disney Cruise Line's newest island destination welcomed it's first guests a few days ago.

Lookout Cay At Lighthouse Point located in Eleuthera, Bahamas hosted DCL's Magic for a day of fun and sun.

My travel plans do not include the new destination until Spring of 2025. Therefore I have taken the past few days to gather information for any of my travel families wanting to visit. I have watched a few vlogs as well as received comments & reviews from a couple of fellow travel agents that were on the sailing.

This was labeled as a preview cruise so not everything was open and there were some opening day hiccups. I'm sure Disney will gather feedback and remedy issues as quick as possible.

My First Takeaways:

The ship docked on the starboard side giving those ocean view rooms the view of the pier and island in the distance. Port side rooms got a view of the ocean. * Ship may not dock starboard side everytime. Weather could require the ship to dock port side at times.

The pier from the ship to the island looks very intimidating with it's length and lack of cover from the sun. From what I've seen it's a 10-15 minute walk. It's been mixed feedback about the golfcarts available. Some have been told they are for all to use, others have been told they are only for guests with mobility problems.

Family cabanas are right off the pier. They have a small beach & a great view of the ship. You can get food delivered or have access to a golfcart to get to food/activity areas yourself.

All the other beaches and areas are accessible by a tram.

The trams are plentiful and you shouldn't have to wait too long to get one. The ride time is 10-15 minutes.

Accessibility:

For those with mobility issues you have tho option to bring your own wheelchair or ECV.

You can also arrange to use one of Disney's options they have available. They are limited and it would be best to secure one as soon as you get on the ship.

Some trams have mobility device accessibility and I would think all the wooden boardwalks throughout the island could make device use easier.

Areas Around The Island:

🛟 There is a small merchandise stand & adult beverage service right off the pier.

🦀 Sebastian's Cove is a drop off play area for 3-10 year olds. It's a covered play/spray area that serves lunch. Perfect for guests who want to spend some quite time on Serenity Bay.

🩴Rushout Gushout is a family play area. There are no age restrictions so adults are free to enjoy the water activities including the slide.

🏊‍♀️ Family beach with plenty of seating and umbrellas for your family to have a fun filled beach day.

🏝 Serenity Bay (18+ beach)

Seating and umbrellas are available for your relaxing beach day. You have an extra choice for food at Serenity Bay BBQ. Cabana rentals are also available for Serenity Bay.

True-True BBQ, True-True Too BBQ, and Serenity Bay BBQ. These eateries are included in your cruise fare. They include Bahamian inspired food & traditional cookout menus.

🍦The soft serve icecream station is also included with your cruise fare.

At an additional charge there is Sandsational Smoothie Bar, and Watering Hole libations service as well as 4 other adult beverage locations.

The nature trail is an easy walk that ends at the historic lighthouse that the island is named after. It includes placards along the way about local wildlife and vegetation of the island.

For An Additional Charge:

🛍 Shopping:

First And Last Chance Stand located right of the ship, across the pier.

Disney T'ings for all your Disney merchandise and Treasures Of Eleuthera for local Bahamian goods. Both located in tje main area after tje tram ride.

🙂 Random Facts I Learned:

🌴 There are over 200 species of plants on the island.

🦋 Home of the Money Bat Moth. If one lands on you legend says you will come into money.

🐠 So much thought was put into the architecture and design to conserve the native wildlife's habitat. Such as, all the boardwalks and the long pier!

I am super excited to visit this island next year!

With it's powder soft sand & crystal blue waters, I've heard it resembles Turks. I can't wait!
